Smita Patil

Making a mark for herself in Bollywood industry with the release of 1977 flick Bhumika actress Smita Patil acted in number of Bollywood films and also contributed in television and theatre. Smita Patil featured in almost seventy five Hindi and Marathi movies and also bagged National Film Awards and Filmfare Award and she was the receiver of the Padma Shri India's fourth-highest civilian honour in 1985. Smita played most remarkable roles in movies like Manthan, Bhumika, Aakrosh, Chakra and Mirch Masala. Apart from acting, the Bollywood known figure was a member of the Women's Centre situated in Mumbai. Smita Patil was always ready to help women in every possible way.

Smita Patil was married to Bollywood famous star Raj Babbar. Unfortunately, the actress died on 13 December 1986 at the age of 31. It has been revealed that the successful actress was more related to small cinema for about five years. She had also truned down all commercial offers. Somewhere in 1977 and 1978, the small cinema era began approaching many stars. She was abruptly removed from a couple of ventures. This was a understated matter but anyhow affected the actress. She even tried to keep her cool. The day she turned down big, commercial offers because of her contract to small cinema, since then the actress got less amount of offers from Bollywood. Also named as tidal wave, the actress had to suffer a lot of controversies as she was linked up with many Bollywood celebrities.
