Shahana Goswami

Shahana Goswami was born on 6 May 1986. She is a Indian Bengali actress who also works in Bollywood movies. Shahana Goswami studied in Sardar Patel Vidyalaya , New Delhi and Sophia College, Mumbai. The actress was the house captain and sports champion in her school. And she had also secured second position at the National Artificial Wall Climbing Competition.

Shahana GoswamiIn addition to this, Shahana Goswami also received training in Odissi for 10 years under Guru Padmashri Kiran Segal and has trot and performed expansively with her dance troupe. Shahana Goswami had a single-minded focus on professional acting since she was a kid. The lass moved to Mumbai to complete her graduation and to explore the possibility of taking up acting as a career. In Mumbai, Shahana's first acted with Jaimini Pathak's theatre group. There, she started working as a production assistant and then she acted in their productions titled ‘Seagull’ and ‘Arabian Nights’.

She also met the talent consultant Shanoo Sharma who asked her to try for a role in Naseeruddin Shah's directorial debut Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota. However, she got a short role of Boman Irani's daughter in Reema Katgi's Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., when she visited the production house for some other work. The actress was also auditioned for the lead role in Percept Picture Company's Rubaru, directed by Arjun Bali, with Randeep Hooda as her co-star.

With no contacts in the film fraternity Shahana stucked on her motive struggling hard and finally she got the big break playing the character of Debbie in Rock On!!. Her excellent performance helped her to make a mark in Bollywood, and she also bagged many awards, one of them being the Filmfare Best Actress (Critics) award. She appeared in the music video for Dido’s song, "Let's Do the Things We Normally Do" as the taxi driver in Mumbai, shot by Siddharth Sikand.

Shahana Goswami's first international project is Deepa Mehta's "Winds of Change", which is an adaptation of Salman Rushdie's Booker-winning novel Midnight's Children. She was also awarded the Lions Gold Award in the same year for Best Supporting Actress in Firaaq. 54th Filmfare Award in 2009 was bestowed to her for Best Actress (Critics) for the film Rock On!!

The actress in 2009, won the 15th Nokia Star Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress in Rock On!! In 2009, Lions Gold Award for Best Supporting Actress was given to the actress for the film Rock on!! She then bagged the Cineblitz Award in the same year for Best Supporting Actress again for the movie Rock On!! The list of nominations include the 55th Filmfare Award in 2010 for Best Supporting Actress for Firaaq. She was then nominated for the 16th Nokia Star Screen Award for Best
Supporting Actress for the same flick Firaaq.
