Manisha Koirala

Born on August 16, 1970, Bollywood actress Maisha Koirala is a well known face in Bollywood film industry as well as she is a UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador and social activist too. Manisha Koirala has worked in Hindi cinema, though she has appeared in several Tamil movies as well. The actress is also a talented
Bharatnatyam and Manipuri dancer.

Manisha KoiralaMaking her acting debut in the Nepali flick, “Pheri Bhetaula” in 1989, Manisha made her Bollywood debut in 1991 with Subhash Ghai’s top-grossing drama genre movie, Saudagar. The actress went on to team up with some of the most flawless and famous Indian filmmakers of her times, and throughout the 1990s, she was one of the best-known actresses in India, for her hard work. Manisha Koirala mostly projected into serious and realistic cinema. Although box office collections of her movies have varied every now and then, critics have noted that her mark that she has made for herself has remained unharmed irrespective of box office collections.

She starred in a number of unsuccessful films during 1992-1993 until Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s love saga 1942: A Love Story and Mani Ratnam’s Tamil drama Bombay and for the movie she got the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance. Manisha was also seen in more commercial projects, like Mansoor Khan’s romantic musical film Akele Hum Akele Tum where ahe was casted opposite Aamir Khan. Manisha Koirala had a great successful year in 1996. She received good reviews for her performance in the drama Agni Sakshi where she was featured opposite Nana Patekar. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial debut, Khamoshi: The Musical also featured her alongwith Salman Khan. In 2001, she starred in the drama Grahan opposite Jackie Shroff.

Rajkumar Santoshi’s drama Lajja along with an ensemble cast that included Rekha, Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit also starred Manisha. Overall, Manisha Koirala starred as the leading character in six high-budget, successful Tamil movies. In December 2009, the actress served as the Jury member in the fifth
edition of Dubai International Film Festival In 2010, she appeared in Partho Ghosh’s, Ek Second... Jo Zindagi Badal De?. Her forthcoming releases include Deepti Naval’s directorial debut, “Do Paise Ki Dhoop”, “Char Aane Ki Baarish” and Rohit Kaushik’s “Chehere” respectively.
