*This card was sent from the post office on Liberty Island and features the unique cancellation mark used only at that post office. Unfortunately it appears that at the time this card was mailed, they didn't use a date in the cancellation mark, just a "Mailed at the Statue of Liberty" inscription. The card WAS dated by the sender as May 25th, but alas, with no year mentioned in the date. The best guess I have for the age of this card would be that it is from the 1970's. I base my guess on the stamp used to mail the card. I believe I remember these stamps from when I was a kid...during the 1970's. May have even been the early 1980's.

Card Reads:
Hi - Having a swell time. We are on the ferry on way to Statue of Liberty. We are on an 8 hour tour. The boat is full of school kids with their teachers. Want to mail this from Statue with special stamp. Love Rose and Dad.
