Farida Jalal


Farida Jalal who belongs to New Delhi, started her career in bollywood films in the 1960s. Farida Jalal also won the United Film Producers Talent Hunt sponsored by Filmfare.

Farida Jalal usually played the sister or rejected fiancée of the male lead, but the actress was never ever seen playing the main lead roles. One of her most critically acclaimed roles is in Bobby where Farida Jalal played the part of the mentally challenged would-be fiancée of Rishi Kapoor's Raj.

In 1980s, Farida Jalal's roles progressed from sister and girlfriend to aunt, mother, or nanny. She is also remembered for her part in Aradhana, in which she plays Rajesh Khanna's girlfriend.

The actress has acted for over 40 years. During the 1990s, Farida Jalal acted in films like Raja Hindustani, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil To Pagal Hai, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, for which the lady won a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.

In 2005, Farida co-hosted the 50th Filmfare Awards alongside Saif Ali Khan and Sonali Bendre, that held in Mumbai. She recently made a special appearance in the Punjabi film Yaariyan.
